NIUIF employees took part in the IFA Working Group meeting on harmonization of analysis methods


In Paris on October 2-3, 2019, the IFA (International Fertilizer Association) Working Group meeting on harmonization of analysis methods was held. The meeting was attended by the quality and standardization department employees of JSC NIUIF - the head of the department Valery Sokolov, chief metrologist Olga Kolesnikova, chief researcher Olga Abramova, Inna Kochetova and specialist of international relations department Olga Shaman-Gevara. 

The following issues were discussed: 

  • determination of water-soluble and assimilable phosphates content in fertilizers, including a discussion of the previously conducted ring test results and further steps to identify best practices for determining water-soluble and assimilable phosphates in mineral fertilizers;
  • determination of the sulphates and elemental sulphur content;
  • determination of the toxic elements (including Hg, Cr (VI), etc.) content in fertilizers in accordance with EN standards. This issue is also included in the group’s work program for the year 2020. 

Kochetova I.M. made a report on the features of determining the water content in fertilizers and industrial salts.

JSC NIUIF employees together with other members of the working group visited the SGS expert laboratory in Rouen. (Societe Generale de Surveilanse is a Swiss company providing independent examination, control, testing and certification services, with more than 2,600 offices and laboratories worldwide).
